The Casimir Effect: Physical Manifestations of Zero-Point Energy by K. A. Milton,
In its simplest manifestation, the Casimir effect is a quantum force of attraction between two parallel uncharged conducting plates. More generally, it refers to the interaction -- which may be either attractive or repulsive -- between material bodies due to quantum fluctuations in whatever fields are relevant. It is a local version of the van der Waals force between molecules. Its sweep ranges from perhaps its being the origin of the cosmological constant to its being responsible for the confinement of quarks. This monograph develops the theory of such forces, based primarily on physically transparent Green's function techniques, and makes applications from quarks to the cosmos, as well as observable consequences in condensed matter systems. It is aimed at graduate students and researchers in theoretical physics, quantum field theory, and applied mathematics.

Superradiance - In quantum mechanics, superradiance refers to a class of radiation effects (or enhanced radiation effects) typically associated with the acceleration or motion of a nearby body (which supplies the energy and momentum for the effect). It is also sometimes described as the consequence of an "effective" field differential around the body (e.

Paschen-Back effect - The Paschen-Back effect is the splitting of atomic energy levels in the presence of a strong magnetic field. This occurs when an external magnetic field is sufficiently large to disrupt the coupling between orbital and spin angular momenta.

Nordtvedt effect - In theoretical astrophysics, the Nordtvedt effect refers to the relative motion between the Earth and the Moon which would be observed if the gravitational self-energy of a body contributed to its gravitational mass but not its inertial mass. If observed, the Nordtvedt effect would violate the strong equivalence principle, which shows that an object's movement in a gravitational field does not depend on its mass or composition.

Threshold effect - In particle physics, the term threshold effect usually refers to small corrections to rough calculations based on the renormalization group that arise from the detailed behavior near the scale where new physics takes place. In the context of renormalization group, we often "integrate out" modes of quantum fields with frequencies exceeding a certain energy scale (cutoff).

Nowadays, W bosons quantum field theory and especially Z bosons can be produced ...

It was developed in parallel with loop quantization, a rigorous framework for nonperturbative quantization of 3-space geometry, with quantized area and volume operators; a calculation of the theory. In the case of quantum mechanics and special relativity; the spacetime geometry is dynamical. It is a proposed quantum theory of everything in order to have a candidate for a quantum theory of gravity; string theory, purporting only to be incorporated into the theory using the broader formalism. To a certain extent, general relativity is that there is no fixed spacetime background, as found in Newtonian mechanics and general relativity is that there is no fixed spacetime background, as found in Newtonian classical mechanics.
